Alexander Numenius

?

Alexander, son of Numenius (often "Alexander Numenius"), was a Greek rhetorician and grammarian generally dated to the second century CE, in the Roman imperial period. He is best known for a treatise on rhetorical figures (Greek title "On Figures of Thought and Speech," often cited in Latin as "De Figuris"), which fed the later technical tradition of Greek rhetorical handbooks. Little is reliably known of his life beyond his work in the technical tradition of Greek rhetoric, and some material circulating under his name is of uncertain attribution.
