Aspasius

?

Aspasius was a Greek Peripatetic philosopher of the early imperial period, active in the first half of the second century CE. He is best known for his commentary on Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics, substantial portions of which survive—making it the earliest extant Greek commentary on any work of Aristotle. His writing helped revive serious study of Aristotle within the Peripatetic school, and later commentators drew on his interpretations. Little is known of his life beyond his teaching activity and his role in transmitting and explicating Aristotelian ethical thought.
