Den

2975 BCE2950 BCE · Early-Dynastic

Den was a long-reigning and comparatively well-documented king of Dynasty 1. He is the first king shown wearing the Double Crown of Upper and Lower Egypt and the first attested using the nisut-bity title ('He of the Sedge and the Bee'). He is known from inscribed labels, seals, and his tomb at Abydos; his absolute dates are approximate.
