Djedefre

2566 BCE2558 BCE · Old-Kingdom

Djedefre was Khufu's immediate successor in Dynasty 4, conventionally dated to around 2566-2558 BCE. He was the first king known to incorporate 'Son of Ra' into his titulary, a form that would become standard, and he built his pyramid at Abu Roash north of Giza rather than beside his father's. The brevity of his reign and the family politics surrounding the succession are debated.
