Kamose

1555 BCE1550 BCE · Second-Intermediate

Kamose was the last king of Dynasty 17, who pressed the war against the Hyksos northward to the very walls of their capital at Avaris, as recorded on his victory stelae. He died before completing the expulsion, leaving the task to his brother or kinsman Ahmose I. The Kamose Stelae are key contemporary narratives of the war of liberation.
