Khasekhemwy

2720 BCE2700 BCE · Early-Dynastic

Khasekhemwy was the last king of Dynasty 2, conventionally placed around 2720-2700 BCE. His serekh bears both Horus and Seth, which is generally read as marking the reunification of the realm after a period of division. He left major monuments at Hierakonpolis and Abydos, including a great mudbrick enclosure, the Shunet el-Zebib. He was probably the father, through Queen Nimaathap, of the line that founded the Old Kingdom, making his reign a bridge into Dynasty 3.
