Khyan (Seuserenre)
1620 BCE–1580 BCE · Second-Intermediate
Khyan (throne-name Seuserenre) was a powerful Hyksos king of Dynasty 15, the line of foreign, West-Semitic rulers who governed the Delta from their capital at Avaris during the Second Intermediate Period. Objects bearing his name have turned up as far afield as Knossos in Crete and Mesopotamia, evidence of the wide reach of Hyksos trade and contact. As a foreign ruler, he was among the kings the later native king-lists deliberately wrote out of the record; the Hyksos king-count and order remain debated.
