Merneith

Merneith was a royal woman of Dynasty 1, the mother of King Den, conventionally placed around 2990 BCE. She held power and may have ruled in her own right: her name appears in a king-list context at Saqqara, and she was buried with full royal honours at Abydos. Whether she reigned as king or acted as regent for her son is debated and remains an open question.
