Senwosret II (throne-name Khakheperre) was a king of Dynasty 12 who developed the irrigation and agriculture of the Faiyum region and built his pyramid at Lahun. Beside it lay the planned workers' town of Kahun, whose excavated archive of papyri and objects is an exceptional source for everyday life, work, and administration in the Middle Kingdom.
