Seqenenre Tao

Seqenenre Tao

1560 BCE1555 BCE · Second-Intermediate

Seqenenre Tao was a Theban king of Dynasty 17 who opened the war of liberation against the Hyksos. His mummy survives and shows massive, unhealed wounds to the head, graphic physical evidence of a violent death, very probably in that conflict. He is the Theban antagonist of the Hyksos king Apepi in the later literary 'Quarrel'.
