Shabataka (Shebitku)
Shabataka (Shebitku)
702 BCE–690 BCE · Third-Intermediate
Shabataka (also rendered Shebitku) was a Kushite king of Dynasty 25 in the Late Period, reigning during the period of mounting confrontation with Assyria. His position in the sequence is contested: on the evidence of the Tang-i Var inscription, many specialists now place him before Shabaka, reversing the older order. His reign is otherwise thinly documented.
