Thutmose I (Aakheperkare)

Thutmose I (throne-name Aakheperkare) was a vigorous warrior-king of Dynasty 18 who greatly extended the empire, campaigning as far north as the Euphrates against Mitanni and deep south into Nubia. He is the first king known to have been buried in the Valley of the Kings, inaugurating the royal necropolis that would serve the New Kingdom. He was the father of Hatshepsut.
