Iamblichus (Scr. Erot.)

?

Iamblichus was a Greek novelist of the Roman imperial period, active in the 2nd century CE, author of the "Babyloniaca" (Babylonian Story), a prose romance recounting the adventures of the lovers Rhodanes and Sinonis as they flee a tyrannical Babylonian king. The work survives mainly through a detailed summary in the Bibliotheca of the Byzantine scholar Photius, along with fragments. He is conventionally distinguished from the later Neoplatonist philosopher of the same name. He is said to have been of Syrian or Babylonian background and to have written in Greek.
