Philumenus

?

Philumenus was a Greek physician of uncertain date, probably active in the late 2nd or early 3rd century CE. He is best known for a treatise on venomous animals and their bites, "De venenatis animalibus eorumque remediis," which survives and describes snakes, scorpions, spiders, and other dangerous creatures along with their remedies. He also wrote on other medical subjects, fragments of which are preserved in later Byzantine medical compilations such as those of Aetius of Amida and Oribasius. His work reflects the eclectic Greco-Roman medical tradition of his era.
