Yajaw Te' K'inich II (Lord Water)

Yajaw Te' K'inich II, 'Lord Water,' was a king of Caracol (Uxwitza') in the sixth century, remembered for his defeat of the great power of Tikal. In 562 his forces won a decisive 'star-war' against Tikal that ushered in that city's long 'hiatus,' a period with few monuments and reduced power. His victory, achieved as the rival Snake kingdom rose, set Caracol on the path to the golden age it reached under his son K'an II.
