Yax Pasaj Chan Yopaat (Yax Pac)

Yax Pasaj Chan Yopaat, called 'Yax Pac,' was the sixteenth and last of Copán's great kings, ruling from 763 into the early ninth century. He commissioned Altar Q, whose four sides portray all sixteen dynasts in succession and affirm his descent from the founder K'inich Yax K'uk' Mo'. His long reign saw the gradual weakening of royal authority as the kingdom slid toward the collapse that ended Copán's dynasty.
