The human intellect in its actualized, immortal state, produced by conjunction with the Active Intellect (al-'aql al-fa''al). Distinct from the Active Intellect itself: the two are correlative, not identical. Renders Alexander of Aphrodisias' nous epiktetos; systematized by al-Farabi (Risala fi'l-'Aql) and Ibn Sina, and received by Maimonides as ha-sechel ha-nikneh.
