Yom HaAtzmaut Hallel (Israel Independence Day)
Many religious-Zionist communities recite Hallel on Israel's Independence Day to thank God for the founding of the State.
The contested practice of reciting Hallel on Yom HaAtzmaut (May 14 / 5 Iyar, Israel Independence Day, 1948). Religious Zionist practice (Rav Goren, Rav Soloveitchik, Rav Aviner): full or partial Hallel with or without bracha. Charedi practice (Chazon Ish lineage): no Hallel, treat as ordinary day. Conservative practice: full Hallel. A defining marker of religious-Zionist vs. Charedi identity.
