Woolly mammoths outlived the Great Pyramid

When Khufu's Great Pyramid was finished around 2560 BCE, woolly mammoths were not yet extinct. A relict herd survived on Wrangel Island in the Arctic Ocean until roughly 2000 BCE — meaning the pyramid stood, complete, for over five centuries while living mammoths still roamed the earth.

How we know

Great Pyramid completed c. 2560 BCE (Khufu, 4th Dynasty). Wrangel Island woolly mammoths persisted until c. 2000 BCE per multiple studies (Wikipedia Woolly mammoth; ScienceDaily/Current Biology 2019; National Geographic); some studies give ~1650 BCE (Quaternary Science Reviews; Molecular Ecology/Love Dalen). At the conservative 2000 BCE figure: 2560 − 2000 = 560 years — over five centuries.
