Antwerp's post-WWII Jewish community of about 18,000 is one of Europe's most concentrated Hasidic-Haredi populations, dominated by Belz, Satmar, and Pshevorsk Hasidism. The community's economic backbone is the Antwerp diamond trade; the Belz, Satmar, and Machsike Hadas synagogues are the central institutions.
