Bijnor

Bijnor, in the Rohilkhand region of Uttar Pradesh, northern India, was a district town where the modernist reformer Sayyid Ahmad Khan (d. 1898) served as a colonial judicial officer (sadr amin) and lived through the 1857 uprising, an experience that shaped his later reformist writings.
