Bosporus

Byzantium was a Greek colony founded by Megara on the European side of the Bosporus, on the site of the later Constantinople and modern Istanbul, Turkey. Xenophon and the surviving Ten Thousand passed through Byzantium near the end of their march, as recorded in the Anabasis.
