Udupi is a temple town on the coast of Karnataka, south-west India, site of the Kṛṣṇa temple founded by Madhva (Madhvācārya, 13th c.) and of the eight maṭhas (the Aṣṭamaṭhas) of his Dvaita Vedānta order.
