Hyderabad (Deccan)
Hyderabad, in the Deccan of south-central India, was the capital of the princely state ruled by the Nizams, a major centre of Indo-Muslim culture. The ideologue Abul A'la Mawdudi (d. 1979) worked there as a journalist and writer in his early career before the partition of India.
