Mu'ta
Mu'ta, in the al-Karak area of west-central Jordan, was the site of the Battle of Mu'ta in 629 between a Muslim expedition and Byzantine and allied Arab forces. The Prophet's adopted son Zayd ibn Haritha (d. 629), who commanded the Muslim force, was killed in the battle along with the other appointed leaders.
