Nahavand
Nahavand, in the Jibal region of western Iran south of Hamadan, was the site of the Battle of Nahavand around 642, a decisive victory of the Muslim Arab armies over the Sasanian Persians that the early sources call the 'Victory of Victories' and that opened the Iranian plateau to the Muslim conquest. The companion Hudhayfa ibn al-Yaman took part in the campaigns of this period.
