Najran

Najran, in the highlands of southwestern Saudi Arabia near the Yemeni border, was an important caravan oasis and, before Islam, a notable centre of Arabian Christianity (associated with the martyrs of the mid-6th century persecution). In the Prophet's lifetime a Christian delegation from Najran came to Medina; the town later figured in disputes between Sunni and Zaydi authority in the region.
