Pathankot

Pathankot, in the Punjab of present-day India near the foothills of the Himalayas, was a town where the ideologue Abul A'la Mawdudi (d. 1979) established his community and headquarters (Dar al-Islam) in the late 1930s, an experiment that preceded his founding of the Jama'at-i Islami in 1941.
