Ramla
Ramla, in central Israel/Palestine, was founded in the early 8th century by the Umayyad caliph Sulayman ibn Abd al-Malik and served as the administrative capital of the military district (jund) of Filastin. The hadith master al-Nasa'i (d. 915), compiler of one of the six canonical Sunni collections, is reported to have died at or near Ramla.
