Sabya (Asir)

Sabya, on the Tihama coastal plain of the Jizan region in southwestern Saudi Arabia (the historic Asir/Tihama borderland with Yemen), was a town of the southern Red Sea coast. It lies in the region associated with the activity and followers of the Sufi reformer Ahmad ibn Idris (d. 1837), whose teaching shaped several 19th-century orders.
