Marshfield, Missouri

Marshfield is a small city in Webster County in southwestern Missouri, United States, where it serves as the county seat and forms part of the Springfield metropolitan area. It was laid out in 1855, named after Marshfield, Massachusetts, and incorporated in 1856. On the evening of 18 April 1880 an F4 tornado struck the centre of town, one of the deadliest tornadoes in American history. The astronomer Edwin Hubble was born here on 20 November 1889, and the stretch of Interstate 44 through the city is named for him.
