Tübingen, a university city in Württemberg, southwestern Germany. Its Protestant and (later) Catholic theology faculties were highly influential; Philipp Melanchthon studied there, and Joseph Ratzinger (Benedict XVI) and Hans Küng taught there in the 20th century.
