Farbrengen (Hasidic Gathering)
A Hasidic communal gathering of singing, words of Torah, l'chaims, and inspiration—central to Chabad and other Hasidic communities.
The Chabad-Lubavitch (and other Hasidic) communal gathering combining niggunim, divrei Torah, l'chaim, and personal mashpia-mekabel interaction. Originated in 19c. Chabad; the major Chabad farbrengens (especially the Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson's) were highly developed multi-hour spiritual events. Distinct from tisch (which is more formal) and shabbat-meal (which is family-based).
