Aristocles of Messene
Aristocles of Messene
c. 65 CE–c. 130 CE
Aristocles of Messene was a Greek philosopher of the Aristotelian (Peripatetic) tradition, probably active in the late 1st or 2nd century CE. He wrote a work 'On Philosophy' surveying and criticizing earlier thinkers, important fragments of which survive through quotation by the later author Eusebius and which preserve valuable information about Skeptic and other schools. His exact dates are debated.
