Mar'ot (Niddah Blood Colors)
The classification of blood colors as impure or pure (five impure shades) — the diagnostic heart of niddah determinations decided by a posek.
Whether a woman is ritually separated from her husband can come down to the exact shade of a stain — and Jewish law identifies five specific colors that count as impure. Because the distinctions are so fine, the decision is traditionally referred to a rabbi (posek) trained to read them, making this one of the most precise and consequential judgment calls in the laws of family purity.
