Hekesh (Juxtaposition Derivation)

A hekesh is a rule of interpretation in which the Torah links two laws or subjects, allowing the tradition to compare them and apply certain details from one to the other. It is one of the classic tools by which the written Torah’s brief words unfold into detailed law, treating not only Scripture’s wording but also its legal pairings and structure as meaningful.
