Emperor Wu of Jin

Emperor Wu of Jin (Sima Yan, 236-290 CE) was the founder and first emperor of the Jin dynasty, which he established in 266 after his family displaced the Cao-Wei state. In 280 his armies conquered Eastern Wu, reunifying China and bringing the Three Kingdoms period to an end. His later reign, however, saw the granting of extensive power and territory to imperial princes, a decision that contributed to the destructive War of the Eight Princes and the rapid weakening of the dynasty after his death.
