Hilula (Yahrzeit Celebration of a Tzaddik)
The yahrzeit of a great tzaddik—especially celebrated in Hasidic and Sephardi tradition with feasting and song rather than mourning.
The Aramaic term for a tzaddik's yahrzeit observed not in mourning but as a joyous celebration — most famously Lag BaOmer at Meron (R. Shimon bar Yochai). Rooted in Zoharic interpretation (Idra Zuta) that the day of a tzaddik's passing is the completion of their soul's work.
