Bahram V

Bahram V was king of the Sasanian Empire of Persia from 420 to 438, the son of Yazdegerd I. Known in later Persian legend as Bahram Gur for his prowess as a hunter, he became one of the most celebrated figures in Persian epic and poetry, surrounded by tales of adventure and romance. During his reign he fought a war with the Roman Empire and campaigned against nomadic invaders on the empire's eastern frontier. Historical accounts credit him with reversing his father's tolerant policies at times, though he is chiefly remembered through his rich legendary afterlife.
