Chak Tok Ich'aak I, 'Great Jaguar Paw,' ruled Tikal (Mutal) until 378 CE. His death is recorded on the same day that Siyaj K'ak', a war-leader associated with the great central-Mexican city of Teotihuacan, arrived at Tikal—an event known as the 'entrada.' This apparent takeover overthrew his line and installed a new Teotihuacan-linked dynasty, marking one of the pivotal turning points in Classic Maya history.
