Al-Muqtadir (895–932) was the eighteenth Abbasid caliph, whose long reign from 908 to 932 was marked by fiscal crisis, factional struggles at court, and brief depositions in 929. Real power increasingly passed to viziers, military commanders, and palace officials during his rule. He was killed in 932 during fighting near Baghdad, and the caliphate's central authority continued to erode after his death.
