al-Mu'tadid

Al-Mu'tadid (c. 854–902) was the sixteenth Abbasid caliph, ruling from 892 to 902. An energetic ruler, he partly restored the central government's authority and finances after decades of weakness and conducted campaigns to reassert control over provinces and rival forces. He died in 902, having stabilized the caliphate for a time before renewed decline under his successors.
