Al-Amin (787–813) was the sixth Abbasid caliph, ruling from 809 to 813 after succeeding his father Harun al-Rashid. His reign was dominated by a civil war with his brother al-Ma'mun over the succession and control of the empire. The conflict culminated in the siege of Baghdad, and al-Amin was captured and killed in 813.
