Al-Hadi (c. 764–786) was the fourth Abbasid caliph, whose reign lasted little more than a year, from 785 to 786. His short rule was marked by tension with his mother al-Khayzuran over court influence and by conflict with Alid rivals. He died in 786 and was succeeded by his brother Harun al-Rashid.
