Gerald Ford was the 38th President, serving from 1974 to 1977 as a Republican. A longtime congressman, he was appointed Vice President under the 25th Amendment and became president on Nixon's resignation, the only person to hold the office without being elected president or vice president. He granted Nixon a full pardon in 1974.
