William Howard Taft

William Howard Taft was the 27th President, serving from 1909 to 1913 as a Republican. He later became Chief Justice of the United States, the only person to hold both offices. As President he continued antitrust enforcement, and his administration promoted the constitutional amendments establishing the federal income tax and direct election of senators.
