Ghiyath ad-Din Muhammad

Ghiyath ad-Din Muhammad was the senior sultan of the Ghurid dynasty, ruling from Firuzkuh and Herat in a dual arrangement with his brother Muhammad of Ghor. He oversaw the height of Ghurid power in Khorasan and Afghanistan, competing with the Khwarazmian empire for control of the region. He was a notable builder and patron, associated with monuments such as the Minaret of Jam. He died at Herat in 1203.
