Al-Aziz Uthman

Al-Aziz Uthman (1171-1198) was a son of Saladin who became Ayyubid sultan of Egypt on his father's death in 1193. His brief reign was marked by conflict with his elder brother al-Afdal over the division of Saladin's inheritance, in which their uncle al-Adil played a decisive role. He died in a hunting accident in 1198. His death left his young son briefly on the throne before al-Adil took control of Egypt.
