Winston Churchill

Winston Churchill was a British statesman, soldier, and writer who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955. He led Britain through most of the Second World War, refusing terms with Nazi Germany and helping to forge the alliance with the United States and the Soviet Union that defeated the Axis powers. He held numerous cabinet offices over a long career and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953. He died in 1965.
