Osei Bonsu

Osei Bonsu, also called Osei Tutu Kwame, reigned as Asantehene, ruler of the Asante Empire in what is now Ghana, from about 1800 until his death in 1824. Under him the empire reached roughly its greatest territorial extent, and he dominated trade on the Gold Coast, dealing with the European powers established on the coast. He centralized the administration and presided over the state at the height of its power. He died at the capital, Kumasi, in 1824.
